| Hi all,
I need some help or resorces for cde im taking the tests in 3 weeks any help on this pleeeeeez.
Thank | |
|
| Good Luck! I don't heard much of people taking this Novell certification.
Is it difficult? | |

| Well as far as I know there are only about 400 CDE's in the world.
If you have your CNE or MCNE then you only need 2 more subjects but it is 3 exams.
Most written exams is not that difficult including these ones as I understand but what makes it one of the most buffest carts is that you must do a practicum.
You go to a real life DS problem via Citrix and the you must fix the DS problem it.
Then at the end of the test it scores you according the DS health check.
Well not that money is every ting but if you have this cert and exp then it is one of the most paid positions.
But you got to enjoy your work and if it is only well that is a different discussion all together.

| Please keep posting on this if you decide to pursue it! Some day soon these kinda of skills are going to be in great demand. Novell gives us this CDE just as they did the CNE - and both are firsts (are they not?).
Keep in touch.

| It must required alot of experience and classroom training... | |

| To be honest I do not have or had any class room training.
I am working on Novell for about 3 years now; I hope that this will be enough experience for my CDE.
I wanted to write in a couple of weeks but I postponed, just because I want to set up my lab and test a couple of DS problems, but I do not know what DS problems they will give, any ideas?
I know somebody at Novell that works on there support whom took the CDE exam, he said even with all his exp he still had a tuff time.
I hope I pass the first time because the exam is expensive as far as I know.
Any more q I would help where I can.

| Please keep up with this thread. I intend to continue with whatever Novell has to offer. Two more to the CNE5 then an easy one(1) to 6 then???

| Lzane:
For the written CDE exam you must know the concepts of eDirectory, LDAP, MS Active Directory.
I took the Beta exam some time ago and it wasn't hard, but I didn't go into those topics deeply enough to pass. All the test questions seemed to come straight out of the Novell white papers on eDirectory.
Good luck. | |

| Just some bad news : (
Like you can see I m in South-Africa and well as far as I know there is only 2 place in SA to go do the practicum but it looks like it was scrapped because Sa line speed is to slow to write the practicum, the place I wanted to write at only let me know yesterday.
So it looks like I must go to another country to go write CDE.
Can you belief that?
Well I guess I don’t have a choice.
But any help on CDE will still be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Rosetower I will check it out.
I heard a roomer that Netware 6 will be the last of Novell and then it will be called something ells?
Any Idea? | |

i'd say it's just an ugly rumor.

| Well, keep on posting about your endevours.
If you pass CDE with self-study, then I will follow you. I finished my MCSE, and CNE on the merits of self study only. Not a single class. I make a test lab of course.
|
| CDE candidate is highly recommend to have good understanding on all those directory services...
Think about what kind of job u can get for CDE? Do your job required?
| limsam 2001-12-02, 10:20 pm |
| My current job does not need the knowledge of a CDE.
But, like everybody, I want to come up. I do not want to stagnate.
After all, if I get a CDE, I can get a highly paid (at least compared to my current salary) job. |
