CNE4.11 to 5 upgrade

| I'm already am Intranetware CNE so I decided to take the CNE 4.11 to 5 update. Let me tell you it sucks very bad. Passing is 656 way up there. I failed with a 652. I think they need to work the bugs out of the exam. There were 2 or three questions that should have been thrown out. One in which was for NSS. They wanted to know what the CONSUMER part of NSS did. A. was manages free space. B. was creates a deposite object. They were both exactly right, but you could only choose one! Either weren't any less important and it didn't say choose the best one. Novell has really pissed me off with this test. Another was DNS\DHCP. They wanted a resource object created in the DNS portion of the test. They gave the info to fill in the blanks but they left the domain name out. It wont let you create the object without the domain name. So I missed the damn question because they didn't tell me what the domain name was!!!! Geez just lost $95.00 on the test. I don't know what to say. They word some of the test in such a way that half the answers are correct but you have to choose the best one. Thats cool but some have exactly the same purpose but you can only choose one!!! That sucks.

| Agreed...the CNE exams for NW 5 are torture! But I've met CNEs who seemed to have studied for the tests and then forgot everything...can't do that here...you really have to know your stuff...OSI model is crucial...but, then, everthing else is too!

| Storm,
It sounds like you have valid complaints. Why don't you call Novell and get the exam comped. It is a very new exam and they have done it in the past.
Just a thought.

| I highly recommend to anyone currently working towards their CNE to take the CompTIA's Network+ exam in place of the Novell Networking Technologies (565). Novell will honor it as a 565 credit with a waiver from their website that you fill out and fax in with your N+ certificate. It's content is not Novell specific and you get an extra certification for taking it.
Although it's a little more expense the 565 test, I feel it is worth it.
