IntraNetWare 5.0 Administration good place to start CNA?

| Hi there. I have a chance to take an IntraNetWare 5.0 Administration course. What makes this attractive is that it will be at no espense to me. I am presently working towards Network+ and should be finished in about 3 weeks. Is the IntraNetWare 5.0 Administration course a good place to start? Or is my employer misinformed and how difficult should I expect it to be (the course would be part-time by the way). Also they will be sending me for CCNA & MCSE training in the first part of next year. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me.

If your working environment required u to know Novell. Then go for it, if not. Don't bother.
Go with something more general like MCSE, CCNA or Nortel. It is more jobs open for that then IntraNetWare. | |

| thanks, but my question is still not answered. if I do not take this opportunity then someone else will get it. the employer IS going to send me for CCNA and MCSE but they also want CNA (first)

| If you will work with Netware 5 and your employer is going to pay for it I think you should. Of course this is just my opinion. Here in OKC I still see companies that require it or at least consider it a plus. I have worked with Netware for 6 years now (started with 3.12) and took my 4.11 test around fall of 99. It seemed fairly easy (took 2 weeks to study) to me. Again that was 5 years after I started working with it. I pretty much figure any and all certs are good if you have the time.

TAKE IT.
If your employer willing to send u to school for that. This mean, they need it. Then it will be part of your job.
IntraNetware is not hard. Do u have any Novell experience before?
Since it is a class, everything shall be fair and the instructor shall able to help.

| Thanks guys, even though I have no experience with Novell products I think this course is too great a perk to pass up, so I will take the course and let you all know in about 6 weeks or so how I make out.
Also heard mentioned that I might be going on a course for MOUS.

good choice to take the course whether it's free of not. Net+ will give you a good understanding of general networking and it should have touched on some of the Novell specific things you may encounter in your CNA course. also, should you decide to go all the way for CNE, you will be able to waive the Networking Technologies exam with the Net+ -- i did that.

| chunder, thanks for the reply. To tell the truth I never even thought about going for CNA or CNE, but since the employer is going to pay for it, why not? I have 3 more classes in Network+ after which I will spend about 2 weeks going over everything and then do the exam.
The CNA course starts the 2nd week of Jan, it is a 40 hour course. Should be interesting from what I read in the course outline. At least it will be different from what I have been exposed to so far. I also hope to start in Feb my MCSE training, which should take about 6 months at night school. And of course there are a few other things I would like to do later on, but that is more certification that will be done after MCSE.
