Interesting thing about the grading scale is it starts at 300. If you take that into consideration, the pass mark should be 78%. Cisco has also admitted (during interviews with their execs., they don't say it anywhere in writing) that they put high weighting on the sims. So with that in mind, it's difficult to say what the real passing % point is.

Many people also run out of time on this test since it requires a lot of subnet calculation. If you're rock solid on subnetting when you're ready to take the test, then time definitely isn't an issue. I had about 20 min leftover. Unlike CompTIA and MS, you can't go back and review questions, which makes managing your time on this test a little tricky! 1-2 sims is usually normal on all Cisco tests and they recommend a max of 10min per sim to finish the test.

Have you looked into which books, simulators, etc you're going to use yet ravikumar?

Do you have any experience with using Cisco routers or switches? If not, most will agree that you have to get your hands on either a simulator (Boson's Netsim is popular right now) or real equipment to setup a home lab. This can be the expensive part.

For books, there's really only 2 choices worth looking at: Todd Lammle's Sybex book, and Wendel Oddom's Cisco Press books. The Cisco Press books are split up between the INTRO and ICND portions of the test. One thing you'll hear about any medium-difficult certification is you should always use two different sources, so getting both the Sybex and Cisco Press books is a solid idea. I personally used these along with Boson's Netsim to pass the 640-801 CCNA within about 2 months.

You mentioned that you need to pass at any cost; are you under a deadline to pass it, or do you need it for a certain job? Sorry I'm being nosey
