Hey NightShade,

Transcender is hands-down the most respected practice test company. I always take the transcender just before I schedule my test to ensure that I'm truely ready. For the CCNA specifically, I scored a 950 on the first Transcender test. My score on the CCNA was 975 so you can say that their questions were almost dead on in terms of matching Cisco's difficulty level.

I can also comment on the Boson tests which included a gazillion questions. So many that it was boring, but every little bit helps. Some questions were repeated so I know Boson has been a little lax on maintaining this particular practice test package. Boson Netsim on the other hand is perfect for taking the place of hands on equipment practice. In order to pass the CCNA, you should have a home practice lab or a simulator such as Boson's Netsim.

Notesadmin - since you're so eager to harvest everyone's email address, why don't you share with us what it is that you're using these addresses for?

I hope you understand my reason for asking. After all, you are annoying the forum with free advertising for a now defunct site (which you were trying to operate by using a free host, imagine that):

I think you're missing the purpose of this forum: to share knowledge and experience that everyone can benefit from, not single out innocent bystanders that are willing to give you their email.

So you think that with trancenders test is enough to get a good grade at the exam???

Buying Transcenders product doesn't give you a good grade. It allows you to verify whether or not you're really ready to take the test. You'll also fill in a few holes missed in your studies by researching the questions you get wrong. I'm sure you already know that the CCNA is a very serious test. Just buying a practice test alone would spell disaster in terms of passing.

Which books or training are you using? The Cisco Press and Sybex books are widely accpeted as the best.

Do you have access to cisco routers to practice with? If not, you'll need to use some sort of a simulator to get comfortable with them.

This test isn't a simple Q and A test. Cisco really makes sure you have a thourough understanding of concepts and how to operate their equipment. I hear ya on wanting to pass on the first try. Cisco requires the equivilant of an 85% in order to pass this test. You almost have to overprepare for this one to make sure you won't be coming back for a retake.

johnaspen there's no secret why i asked him for his e-mail address - to provide a complete training kit that he can take at 1/3 price if not less.

You're not telling us enough to be able to answer that question.

The bottom line is that no prep test question set will be "enough to get a good grade" for any exam worth having.

You need to read - I recommend at least two books per test, from different writers. Keep track of the amount of time it took you to read those two books. Take copious notes.

Spend time in the lab. How much time? Multiply the time it took you to read those books by 2. That's the minimum amount of time you should dedicate to hands-on, lab work.

Once all that is done, get in test mode and start using a tool such as Transcenders.

Stay away from brain dumps. Stay strong. Pass the test.

See? It was easy

Maybe you arent undesrtanding me.... cause i alredy read all the 4 modules i did all the 4 semesters of CCNA

I just need something to review thats all... i mean the more important things! thats why im asking for stuff like those (testking, boson, etc are the best for reviewing)
I just need good stuff to review!!!! to get a good grade.... i mean those things, i think that they focus in the more important things that you need to know for the exam right?
it isnt like that?

Good to hear that you went through Cisco Acad (or did you just obtain the material and read it?). All that hands on experience will help when you're in the test environment and can think back to certain labs you worked on.

Since Cisco requires the equivalent of an 85% (although the sims are heavily weighted so 85% isn't necessarily true) in order to pass, I can't really say there's any quick review out there that will help your grade. People fail this baby frequently because they don't take it seriously enough (and it's just flat out challenging). You have to know all the material inside and out. If you think you need a review, go through your books/cisco accad material and take notes on your fuzzy areas. Now you have your review material and you didn't have to spend an extra penny. Because the pass mark is approx 85%, you really can't focus on the "important things". They're all important when the pass mark is that high. Taking notes sucks and can be very frustrating on a 600-900 page book, but there's no way I would have passed without having several pages of typed notes that I needed to focus on myself.

If we were talking about a CompTia or MS test that only needs a 70% to pass, I'd recommend the ExamCram series of books for last minute review purposes only. On those tests, you can afford to ignore some of the less important material.

Test-so-called-king is a brain dump that you pay for, nothing more, nothing less.

And no, legitimate prep tests do not cover just the stuff that's in the test. They cover all the official objectives.
