I'm about to start studying for the CCNA and want to know which book/s are the best for this. I heard the Cisco Press books are the best, but not sure which specific book to buy? If im not mistaken there are two seperate cisco ccna tests but can be taken all at once or split apart right? thanks!

I'm using Cisco self study books - which I bought and the Wendell Odom intro and ICND pdf versions. The cisco books cover about 750 pages or so where as the Odom books go over the 1000 page mark. Overall I would say The odom books cover the topics slightly better but I don't like how every command answer is shown via the show run output. The cisco books are more straight to the point but harder to understand. It took me 3 months to go through both though. I still forget stuff and have to re-read topics.

Also I have the boson netsim cd which has over 100 labs to study from. It is quite comprehensive but doesn't support all the high level commands which a real router would.

I use the Cisco Press Preparation Library (INTRO & ICND) as well as the sybex study guide. I prefer the Cisco books but you can never have too many resources.

The Cisco website is excellent for white papers on how to config a router/switch.

Sims are good as well as you can build massive networks but are no substitute for the real thing.

Yeah, I'm enjoying the CCNA Intro cisco press book. However, it's a bit wordy and find my mind wandering through some of the thick parts of it. Well written and I seem to be learning a good deal..however, I may need to read over the chapter a few times before it actually kicks in!
