| The other day, my boss was putting away a Cisco 800 Series router with 4 port switch inplace of a newer Cisco router model. Anyways, I scooped this one up in the process. With that being said, would this make a good practice router/switch for Cisco exams?
Just wondering. | |

| No wonder he gave it to you; they are really cheap (from what I see on ebay). | |

| I dont think the 800 is going to help you much with any of the exams. I would think if it were going to at all, it would help you with the remote access exam. But, I dont recall anything on that exam that wasnt theory only as far as cable modems/routers go. You are going to need routers that are going to support frame-relay or ptp T1s, or even ISDN lines. Dont sweat the cable modem or dsl stuff right now. | |

| It can't hurt but really if you could get your hands on a 2500 series, at usedrouter.com they are fairly cheap, that would be very good. I would hold on to it though, you can definitely use it if you build a lab.
