would the following access list permit access to a server on the 192.168.1.18 network and block access to all other hosts on the same network.

access-list 110 permit ip any host 192.168.1.18

It appears that the answer is Yes that access list will allow any source address access to the host address 192.168.1.18 and because of the explicit deny any statement at the end of the access list it (not visable), all other traffic would be denied.

Access List's are not my strong point so if anyone else has a different take on this please post it.

Howdy nathan2,

Ony thing catching my eye here is that you were asking about a server on the 192.168.1.18 network, rather than saying that this IP is for the server itself. But at the same time, I can't think of a subnet mask (other than /31 which isn't valid for the CCNA level) that would produce a network address of .18 so I'll assume you are talking about .18 as a host address.

So after all that mumbling, I'll just agree with JPaper.

Nothing to say, just wanted to bring this valid post back to the front because of some idiot spamed the forum.

That should work. I'm sure you know how to apply it, but remember it does make a differnce on how you apply it to the interface.
