| i just went to my local college, because i am going to take C++, MYsql classes and i saw that they offer the ccna track
it consists of a 4 class track one at the time
that means 2 years
i always been interested on the cisco track
the cost is close to nothing, since i already have a 2 year degree with a 3.97 GPA, i get a brake with the tuition
the thing is that i read about guys that use 2 books and with 6-8 months of studying, they take the test and pass
is it worth it to prepare for 4 semestres or is it an overkill
thanks for your time guys

| Personally I think 4 semsters is overkill - on the positive side, I've seen the course notes and you do cover a lot of stuff.
WHere do you want to go with your career - Cisco doesn't really complement C++

| well,
i have a novell cna, Ms MCP, n+,A+ t
but i also have a 2 year computer science degree
next is a 4 year degree and i need c++, visual java, VB, assembly language to graduate
i could take the cisco as electives

| You really need somebody from the USA to answer - your education system is VERY different from ours.
Disregard my last answer.

| i took 4 semesters of CCNA at my high school because it was free and you do learn alot at a good pace. its for people who really want to learn about networking. if your just looking to get certified just go to celticrover.com or any other free site plus read some books and you can have it in no time. | |

| i am not desperate to get the cert
my goal is a 4 year degree then MBA
i just figure if i take the ccna classes
i can use them as electives
which would give me 12 credits towards my 4 year degree and a cert
instead of taking meaningless electives
but i could also take visual c++ , linux OS,
apache web server and unix classes instead of the ccna classes
i am just trying to decide

| by saying you could take "visual c++ , linux OS, apache web server and unix classes instead of the ccna classes" do you mean you take all of those classes in place of ccna? i probably would because all of them will go alot farther than just a entry level networking cert. (i think) | |

| ccna classes are 4
one each semestre
and i would take them as electives, so they will count towards the degree
or instead, i could take the classes i mentioned before , one per semstre |
