Author ACL's

ok guys, i have got some conflicting statements here about ACL's.

i was taking the ICND test exam and it states that to apply an ACL to a VTY line interface, you have to use ip access-group under the VTY interfaces.

(i can post a screen shot if someone tells me how to)

now on the other hand, in the sybax book that i m using, it states something different (which for some reason i tend to beleive, but m not sure). it states that you should use ip access-class command to tie and ACL to a vty line and to use ip access-group to tie an ACL to an interface.

wats correct..?

your book is correct the test exam is wrong. I would be suspect of any exam that gives you such false info. If you dont have your own router, go to www.r1r2.com(*) and uses theirs to try the commands yourself. Also for quick references on in such situations you can use www.nikmakris.com/cisco_ios.asp

(*) I tried to reach the site tonight, but was not able to connect. It may be just overloaded, since I have not heard that it has been shut down.

The book is right, with a correction: for VTYs the command is "access-class", not "ip access-class".

Nice links, Mr. forbesl!
