| At least for me: I passed
Instead of telling you all what you already know about the exam, I will take this time to give you my thought.
1) the exam is not that hard. It is actually pretty easy if you ask me. I over studied because of all the horror stories I head in this forum. I took and passed the old ccna (4 years ago) and to compare them, this one is most certainly harder. But its not impossible by any means.
2) The stuff the asked me on does in my opinion not make a qualified engineer. They pretty much limited the things they tested on to a few topics. I would hope that they would have tested on much broader topics. Who knows.. it’s a entry level exam so I will see how the CCNP tests out.
3) there were a 2 questions that just sucked. One asked the about the tcp/ip vs. osi model. It gave an answer that was so similar to the correct answer that the only reason for that is to trick a person rather then test his knowledge. All though there may be one correct answer in the RFP or something like that, in general networking both terms are totally and fully accepted. I dont like that! Cisco did wrong on that question and I told them in the comment box.
The other question that sucked asked about acl's. It made you choose a couple of acl's from a list that would accomplish a stated objective. The problem was it did not specify where those acls would be applied to. I have always thought that acls require two things: the acl list and how its applied. The question was not hard to answer since only the right amount of acls could possibly accomplish what was asked. All others would not even come close but it still sucked as a question. Again my comments went to cisco.
With that said... I passed with a 950, which is respectable. I now have a better understanding of what people are talking about in this forum and will be able to help them with their problems or slap them for their wining.
Good luck to all...
Its beer time! | |

| Congratulations! Thanks for the info and have a beer for me. Actually, I haven't been able to drink beer since undergrad so have a red bull and vodka for me and pat yourself on the back for a job well done. | |

| Congratulations but can you please removed the two references to the exam question content.
Thank you.

| lex,
i thought about what I posed for a while and do not think that I am violating the CA. It is of course at your discression to edit the post. However since I do not believe to be in violation of anything that I have signed I do not believe that I should to edit my comments. Since I do not talk directly about the questions only topics which can be found in any study book or on the cisco website I am sure my post will make it past any legal challenge. Are there any lawyers in the forum.
|
| lol, ok, now I know for sure the power trip is getting to you.
this is turning into a joke.
| Sexy Lexy 2004-07-14, 4:10 pm |
| It's neither joke nor power trip.
I just politely requested removal of the question content.
What is the problem with that?
| |
| Tophat 2004-07-14, 5:01 pm |
| lex..
there is no problem asking or the tone you asked.
what am I talking about, we are not chicks.. tone of asking who cares.
Anyhoo... you asked, I thought I did nothing wrong. Between the two of us, if anyone is in violation then it would be me, the risk is all mine and I am assuming that by keeping my post..
Actually its more of a vent.
I really have nothing more to say since ... ITS BEER TIME !!! have a great day and tomorrow I will tell you all about my hangover without violating the NDA
| Sexy Lexy 2004-07-14, 5:05 pm |
| Enjoy the beer!

| Good job TopHat on a great exam score and you were absolutely right not to change your post as there was no NDA violation in what you said. It is obvious to the intelligent reader that you took great care in your choice of words to make your point while not even venturing close to the line.
Well done and keep up the good work!

HAND
I believe that JV is a previous "senior" member of this forum who evidently left, deleted his old handle, was having withdrawals from being away, and came back under a new handle. He keeps talking about how the forum "used to be" in another thread.

Why, of course, anybody who only watched this forum for a while and only started posting recently is a previous "senior" member, isn't it, Mr. forbesl?
You are paranoic, sir! | |

I believe the proper term is "observant", Danut. Shall we review your posting history from when you first joined as "repentantvoter" to now? You got awful smart awful quick....

Thanks for the compliment, sir, I prise myself for being a quick learner.
We shall review whatever history you want, it will not change the fact that you are displaying the paranoia symptoms:
quote: The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition (DSM-IV), the diagnostic standard for mental health professionals in the United States, lists the following symptoms for paranoid personality disorder:
1. suspicious; unfounded suspicions; believes others are plotting against him/her
2. preoccupied with unsupported doubts about friends or associates
3. reluctant to confide in others due to a fear that information may be used against him/her
4. reads negative meanings into innocuous remarks
5. bears grudges
6. perceives attacks on his/her reputation that are not clear to others, and is quick to counterattack
7. maintains unfounded suspicions regarding the fidelity of a spouse or significant other
I shall grant you, though, that I have no way of knowing if 7 applies...

| Yeah, OK...whatever, Danut. Thanks for the psychoanalysis. | |

PS
I keep wondering why Mr. Moderator does not close this dreadful thread...

| Yes forbesl I was here a long time ago, even used this name for a while and if that makes me senior, I welcome the term. I think I even remember you posting prior to taking your CCNA and if it is you I am thinking of you were a polite, intelligent newbie at that time. What happend to you in the ensuing years? You remain intelligent, even experienced now, but far from polite to many on here. You must have got married or something...
Skipster and MadChef would remember me, but I suspect they are long gone.

Wasn't me, JV. I got my CCNA before this forum was a twinkle in webmaster's eye.

Wrong again. I got married many, many years before CCNA was a twinkle in MY eye.

| Tophat 2004-07-16, 11:36 pm |
| I know this is totally off the ccna topic, but how old is this site anyway? | |
| Just Visiting 2004-07-17, 5:29 am |
| I was here over five years ago and have the version 1 CCNA certification, so forbesl and his twinkle are a little exaggerated, but who would be surprised by that?. I am not sure how much older the site is.

OK, I admit the twinkle might be a bit over the top; but if this site existed before I got my CCNA, I didn't know about it. I didn't join this site until I started my quest for the ENCFC. After being here for a while, though, I realized I didn't want that certification. Too many here already with that cert and it's a dead end position anyway.
So now...who knows?
