| I recently took the CCNA and failed it by 12 pts. I did really good on all of the sections except for troubleshooting (possibly missed every question). I had to guess on all the questions that were like "examine the output displayed above. Why is the network/router/switch not functioning properly?"
Could someone PLEASE give me info/links on how I could be more successfull in this part of the test. ~thanks, Jeff | |

| Sorry to hear you failed.
What experience do you have? What materials did you use to prepare for the exam?
If you can afford it, try and get your hands on a real router or two (2500 series) then you can connect the two and learn by example when you configure each one how everything fits together.
Basic troubleshooting consists of checking the interfaces, making sure the configuration is correct, routing is functioning and pinging each router from the other.
Hand on experience with routers (and to some extent, a router sim) will give you this knowledge for the re-sit.
Give this a try:

Hope it helps.

| sorry about the failure... keep at it. When you missed it by so little, the experiance of the test will give you the edge you need to pass it the next time. |
