Failed 640-801 with an 838

| 838...Thats one question!
I am pretty sure it was a buggy simulator that kept me from passing.
It was a VERY easy sim, but...i can't really explain it, NDA
I knew everything on that test 'cept for 3 or 4 questions i just guessed on.
Meh, I think i won't take it again, at least not now. I don't think i should pay $125 for something i just don't need.
I learned a LOT from the acadamy class.
I just don't think i need it right now, I'm 16 and going to be a senior in high school this fall. I'll get my A+ and Server+ free from classes at my school.
I'm going to get some degree, not ride on a CCNA.
I might go for it again some time down the road.
It's been fun | |

| dont stop now.. There is no reason not to get your ccna considering you already went through the headache of learning all that info and almost passing. You should be able to make up the $125 easily with a better summer job that you will get through your ccna. Its not all the time that a 16 year old summer intern will have those qualifications.
good luck and dont let a this little failure discourage you.

| The clock is always ticking, tick tack tick tack.
If you can grab it now, you shouldn't waste any time, because tomorrow you are 61.

| I know how you feel man, I failed my first time with a similar score, must have missied it by one question. Then I later knew which questions I got wrong as I was thinking about it walking away from the testing center and it kept digging at me. I felt like giving up, but I knew I havnt come that far after studying so hard to just give up. I retook the exam the next week and had my revenge with score well over the 900 mark.
So, now you are so close, next time you take the exam you'll most likely do better, which means you pass. Thats usually how it works, each attempt you get a better score.
|
| I've talked to a bunch of people and they all convinced me to take it again...i'll probably do that next week.
I probably won't go so early (9 AM) next time.
I guess i'll look over the sybex book, boson tests, semsim, and other crap 1000 times between now and then.
I've got the ACL's, routing protocols, vlans, frame relay, router commands, and subnets down 100%, i have no CLUE why i should of failed.
Meh, i'll try harder next time.

| good choice... good luck, remember if you have any questions post them and I will try to help you. But please keep in mind that you signed the nda and are bound by the ca so dont post actual exam questions. | |

| Yuck, Semsim was awful (I seem to remember).
I failed last week with a 788, but not to be disheartened, am taking it again tomorrow at noon.
I only had two sims, one RIP setup and an access list to deny telnet to one network. Was it sufficient to create the list and apply it on the ethernet interface of the router that the network was connected to? Or did I have to verify it?
Other than that, I'm not too sure what else I got wrong, so am covering the entire material again

| Oh bugger - looks like I should have put it inbound on a serial interface...
I wonder if that cost me the exam
|
| Standard go closest to the destination, an Extended go closest to the source.
(if you put a standard on the interface connected to the source, you deny all traffic comming from the source from getting into the router.) |
