I've been using this Tom Lammelle's Sybex 4th edition ebook to prepare me for the CCNA test. I have also completed a 3 quarter COmmunity college course wihich utilized the Cisco online netacad acaddemy. Not to brag but I was the best or 2nd best student in the class, but the class itself left me a long way from being capable of passing the CCNA exam. I credit my ability to feel more confident about passing this exam to Sybex's ebook which really helpd to clear up the confusion the Cisco Academy literature seem to creat at times.

The beauty of the Sybex ebook is it includes a really slick Certsimulator that you can activate, which I did.

IMO it seems to be the best read, the ebook has a way of explaining things to you in a layman way. I don't feel like beating my head against a table after a chapter

I have some questions and MY QUESTIONS ARE !!!!

1.) Has anyone used the cert simulator that comes with this ebook, and do they view it as damn close to the actual examinations

2.) What are other peoples opinions about the Sybex ebook and package.

I am thinking abbout taking the test in the next week or 2. I'm getting better and better at passing the cert simulator which offers 50 questions from a pool. I still see new questions being asked and I've taken the cert sim test 8 or so times.

I'm just curious to know how much I should believe the cert-sim in guaging my ability to pass

Input is greatly appreciated

The book is great and certsim is great. I'd study until you get 1000/1000 on certsim most every time. Also, the practice questions that come along with the Cisco Press CCNA Flash Cards are good also.

I used the 4th edition of the Sybex book. I upgraded for $39 to get the cersim. They are updating the questions (you can download an update for it on the http://www.routersim.com web site.

I would also suggest getting 2 2501 routers and a 1900 switch to play around with.

Yeah I have the cert sim activated, I'm downloading the new questions now, however my test is 3.5 hours

purchasing cisco equipment is completely out of the question based on the fact that I'm getting dangerously close to bankruptcy. However I did have the ability to work with cisco equipment at college for the past year and feel comforatable with the equipment.

I don't suspect the sim questions will be much harder then fix repair, and add.

I just downloaded the updated ceretsim questions and took another test. i didn't get any new questions so it looks like I have been working with the latest up date.

the only dissapointing this is that the simulations don't include an access list sim. I have read that people are getting access list sims.

at least i was fore warned.

I will post my experience when I get back from my test this afternoon.

I've been studyiong my XXX off so there should be no bad news !!!.

I know they have updated the questions but they stated on their web site they are working on updating the SIMS.

Make sure you know how to do access lists!!!
