| The Sybex CCNA Study Guide is good enough to pass and contains alot of helpful practice questions and software. I've also heard the Cisco Press books are good, lengthy, and boring. | |

| Well,
I was like you, confused. Some where telling me that Sybex was better than CISCO press and others were telling the opposite.
I did my MCSA with Sybex books and i thought sybex was a bit thin to say the least.
So i decided to buy both Sybex and Cisco press books(2).
I study with one and use the other one for reference.
If you just want to pass CCNA then Sybex is ok. If you are serious about networking and CISCO and you wnat to know the ifs and the whys then CISCO press book is what you want.
My advice to you, if you can't decide, is buy both(if you can afford it). I know, it's a lot of money but how much is CCNA wotrh to you?
Also, consider the internet and particularly CISCO web site:
CISCO Documentation CD Home Page
This quite rich as well.
I think that this has to been seen as an investment. If you study networking, i assume you like it. I did my MCSA because every one has one, was gonna do MCSe but i simply don't enjoy MS so i decided to drop it and do CISCO. I absolutly love it. I have finally found my style. I am aiming for 100 % at the test ( i know it won't happen) but i make sure i understand it all back to front before going to the next chapter. This is what you should aim for ideally and the more studying material you have at hand the better.
Good luck. | |

| I read the Cisco Press ICND and Intro. It was boring and had MANY erros. Mind you, it's a good book to get your feet wet, but go for the Sybex. it's much better and much more interesting to read, unlike the cisco press | |

| Unfortunately, the exams are not based around the Sybex book.
Cisco does go into great length but that is what is required of their associates and professionals.
But find out what works best for you and go with that.
I always try to get both Sybex and Cisco, Sybex gives a good basic foundation on which to build and the Cisco book has all the technical information you will need for the subject.
Happy reading.

| I don't know if this would be an option for anyone and I don't know the cost as compared to a text book or two but Books 24x7 provides a huge number of texts, including the Sybex books for all of the Cisco exams and general topic coverage.
You can sign up for a free demo and probably find out the price. You can search the entire book list of just the ITPro list for a subject (i.e. spanning tree protocol) and get a vast amount of information back.
Just another option. | |

| Is the CCNA Sybex 4th edition good
or the CCNA sybex deluxe edition better?
Should I get deluxe edition since it has the virtual lab or simulator??? | |

| The Deluxe Edition is about $40.00 more than standard. I'd get the standard edition and use that $40.00 toward equipment or testing software such as CCNA CertSim. |
