Hi everyone,

Just starting CCNA. I have done MCSA but i must say, i find networking a lot more intersting. So, I have decided to aim for CCIE.
Here is my planned route before i attempt CCIE:

- CCNA
- CCDA

- CCNP
- CCDP
- CCSP
- CCIP

Do you guys think this is overkilled or would you say i need all the above really. (i know there is not prerequisites for ccie but realistically...)

Thanks
Adorik

i passed the r&s lab a few weeks ago and i took the following path:

ccna
ccnp
ccdp
ccie

I have never heard of CIAO. Is that a new exam?
I'm confused: You have a CCIE and your are working on MCSE.
May i ask what the purpose of that might be?

OK. CIAO could have been the latest CISCO cert.
So, any news on CCIE or shall i just assume that doing all the ccxa and ccxp is not required unless I'm gonna be doing all 4 CCIEs.

A+ (That's french for CIAO)

Basically unless you are working on Cisco kit then I wouldn't entertain the CCIE path...........I wouldn't even do my CCNP, I knew a guy on Helpdesk who was studying for his CCNP!!! Without experience that is such a waste of a cert!!!

Listen to the man.

Isn't there a time requirement for the CCIE? Haven't you got to be working with Cisco kit on a daily basis for years before they will let you take the exam or do you just need the money and the CCNP etc. to take it?

Spides is right, unless you are working in all areas (Routing, switching, firewall, VLAN, VPN etc.) then it would be better to pick a more appropriate qualification for your position as opposed to the prestige of CCIE without the experience.

As it's the premium cert, it would be best to work up to it in certification and experience.

Don't you think it will look a bit strange having CCIE on your CV without the experience?

Both count when you get to that level of job hunting.

Look all of you...I'm gonna go straight to the point as i am getting a little wound up now.

When did I mention experiance? I mentionned NOT experiance.
I am aware as it is so bleeding obvious that you need at least some kind of it to become CCIE. In fact I would say that there are fewer than 20 CCIEs in the world that don't have experiance. Right? wrong? Less than that? Maybe but maybe not so... GOOD! At least we agree on one point.
I would suggest that anyone trying to get a CCIE without experiance might as well try to become a brain surgon at the age or 98.
Also, did I say that i wanted to be CCIE by next Xmas? No.
I am totally confused as you are all qualified and that does suggest you can read - especially questions.
Now go back to the top, read the question again, which in my own opinion is pretty straight forward and answer it only if you feel like doing so and you think you know the answer.
It is not a brain teaser, don't try and read between the lines, just answer the darn question - a YES or a NO... (Good practice - It might help you for your next test )

Thank you.

PS: I am not mad at anyone but i think that life is just a bit too short to go round in circles and it would make things a little easier ir people were a bit more straight forward at both answering questions and expressing their opinion.

Love you all.

Looking at both spides and my own reply, neither decried you for trying.

We both pointed out the it would be better to go for a certification pertinent to your current position.

Well, Sexy Lexy, I call that persistant (if i may do so).
I guess you just don't think i deserve a straight forward answer for some strange reason....
or, if you think you've answered my question, then i'll have to give you 3 outta 10 for trying.
