| Hello, everyone:
I just started my CCNA class last night. It was from 6:00PM to 9:30Pm but it was ended at 10:00PM.
It sounds like a very hard course. There are online materials from Cisco and books which I will get tomorrow Wed night.
For those of you who went through and passed the exams.
Could you give me some tips on this course.
I am kind of nervous if I can make it through.
Thank you | |

| You don't have to be a scholar to become a CCNA. Read, read and read more, then ask questions at class and on here whenever you want clarification on some technical point. There are many here to assist so stop fretting and get to work!

| Yankee is correct.... I do not have my ccna yet but hope to get it soon. I remember 3 years ago a friend of mine started working towards his CCNA and passed, went on to CCNP and so forth. I was on the MCSE track so I didn't go the same route he did. I used to glance at his CCNA material and the subnetting thing to me was the hardest part of the test. Now I breeze though subnetting and feel its one of the simplest things on the CCNA track. It’s all about getting good material to read and it really helps if you have a CCNA to pick their brain or to get a different view on a subject you are having issues with.
It may or may not be harder then MCP exams (Haven't taken mine yet) but it will be worth it. | |

| I'm with Yankee on this one. There's no single tip that will help you through this CCNA course. You have obviously paid your money and started the process, so now it's up to you to finish it. No one can stop your knees from clapping together but you. You have got to bring yourself to realize that you are in it to win it.
Be prepared to spend some time finding a way to grasp the concepts, you'll do this by reading, researching, asking questions and oh yea, answering questions as well. Don't use examnotes to get answers to your questions, answer other's questions as well. If you happen to be wrong, someone here will definitely chime in and point out your mistakes.
Just from the few words you posted, I can sense your timidness. Make the process fun, be excited about what you're learning and things won't seem that bad. Yes, the test is intimidating expecially to someone who's starting out. It's sort of intimidating to me too, but It is only out of respect fot the test and it's objective.
Popedevil has a point, subnetting has to be the one of the most difficult concepts to grasp, well, it was for me. It wasn't until after my 5th year in networking that i was able to understand the how's and why's in subnetting.
Get motivated, have fun, and watch yourself grow. |
