| Can you recommend any good books that I can use to study for the CCNA ?? I was going to get CCNA for Dummies, but I've heard a few negative reviews for that book.

| Most will probably tell you either the Sybex or the Cisco Press books. Also get a sim and/or routers. | |

Nice Boulware, that's what i used. Cisco Press books, "encyclopedia style" read them 2-each. "sibex", Todd L. I read a few times also. I even read "CCNA" dummies a few times. Syngress.
Ando,Those are enough However, you must practice this somewhere on a sim\or the real deal, switch\router. You'll then know if you like working like this for extended amounts of time. There is good $$ doing this work but, you best make sure it's what you really enjoy doing. I'm finding out that it's harder keeping up with the certs rather than the work itself.
good luck,,

| yeah thanks guys. I'm not sure its what I wana do, but it was my general plan on getting into this area to see what its like. I'm interested in getting out of the line of fire tech support and into project work, behind the scenes work, like network security or isp router config and I think cisco is the way to go, to get into that area of IT | |

| i think many people will say 'yes' to your question (as that was one of the popular authors when i got my ccna 3 years ago). they'll probably say to ALSO get this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...9041317-5299640
i'm due for updating my CCNA this summer and will probably get both of these. i used the Todd Lammle book 3 years ago along with the Cisco Press ICND book and did super with them.
get the both (the Cisco kit and the Sybex one) and read them in tandem (similar sections from each) to cover any areas where the other may not. | |
