I read a thread a while back about a website that gave users free access to a number of routers where you were given a bunch of scenarios. I was wondering if anyone knew of the site and if they could post it. Also, what is the best simulator to get. I want one that gives a lot of scenarios to work with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I just purchased Cisco Routing and Switching eSIM by Cisco Press for about 60 dollars new on Amazon.com. I hear it is the best. I've seen the bonson sim and it sucks in my opinion.

thanks dmaftei and smrkdown for the help. The website looks good. Hope I can get on soon before they start using accounts.

Smrkdown is there a trial version of the eSim I can download and try out?

Thanks again for the help

How does Boson suck? What is wrong with it? It is far more feature rich then the Esims from cisco. I remember buying the Esims when I was studying for my CCNA and I hardly ever used it because it was rather limited. Boson is good because you can build complex networks with it. It even has options to configure Frame Relay and ISDN. The big thing I noticed when I tried boson was that it was fairly slow it sometimes took 10 seconds to process certain commands. And it wasn't setup like that for realism either because it slow at doing certain tasks that would only take a second on a real router.

Another good option is the network visualizer from routersim.com I recently bought that for the CCNP moduals. It doesn't have the ISDN features of Boson(yet) but it seems to have a much cleaner and polished interface.

Anyways, buying your own routers is always a good move even if you only get two. You can use those two routers to get a feel of actual routers in use and then use the router sims to build complex networks.

I don't believe there is a trial version of eSIM. By saying that in my opinion bonson simulator sucks... I mean it is not very realistic as far as the CLI. eSIM is exactly like the real IOS. It also comes with lessons, practice question, video lessons, and of course labs.
