With all these subnetting gurus on this forum - could someone answer a little question?

With VLSM'ing - do you eliminate the first an last sunbets as well? If you do, it seems a bit poitless.

Your question isn't very clear.

The object is to leave the largest consecutive block of IPs when doing VLSM and designing the network. In most cases you will use the first part for all the hosts and use the last part 255.255.255.252 for serial links because they require 2 address.

And you use ip-subnet zero. This is a CCNP topic
