| Woohoo! I passed today at my first try! I scored 949/1000. More details to come soon. | |

| Congrats! Please provide details when you can! | |

| Here are some details from my exam:
1. No IPX.
2. No ISDN.
3. Some IP access list questions (2 or 3) - remember the implied 'deny any' at the end of an access list!
4. Know your subnetting! Tricky subnet masks that will throw you off.
5. Know the difference between the 'show' commands (for example, 'show interfaces' and 'show ip interface' as well as 'show cdp neighbors' and 'show cdp neighbors detail').
6. Iron out the basics. I studied lots of details but most were useless. Know things like your OSI model, VLANs, broadcast and collision domains, and the ins and outs of LAN segmentation.
7. Practice your commands for the simulators - enabling RIP, verifying routes, checking interface IP configuration, clock rates.
If you have any specific questions just ask.

| Well done, and thanks for the feedback. | |

| Awesome post, thanks I feel a little better. I'm taking my test in two days. I was going to move it back, but Im going ahead and trying. I really need to focus on the show commands. Thanks once again! | |

| Sorry I forgot to ask, I was wondering if you can tell me a little the VLAN stuff, did it focus on theory or did it focus on configuration. Also can you tell me how much 1900 switch stuff was there. I don't have access to a 1900, work just has a 2900 series. I'm not sure what you can or can't say, but anything will help.....Thanks ahead of time. | |

| Without giving away too much, the VLAN questions were very general, such as what's the advantage of having VLANs and what are the steps to set one up. Nothing specific or command related. | |

| One last thing I forgot to mention concerning subnetting. Know not only how to subnet correctly, but be comfortable with the different IP/subnet mask notations. Example: know right away that 192.168.1.33 with subnet mask 255.255.255.224 is the same thing as 192.168.1.33/27. This is absolutely crucial, cause they will toss different subnet mask formats at you within the same question to confuse you. Also, be prepared to combine subnetting with the correct router command in one question.
Good luck. | |

| Thanks for the info!
Can you elaborate a little on the tricky subnetting questions you may see?

| Good work martek,
Tell us about the sims, did you save your work with copy start run or just did what they asked you ?
And in which topics the sims were?

| Concerning the tricky subnetting: expect to see various subnet masks within one question like for example 10.23.4.5/22 mixed in with a 192.168.1.9 with subnet mask 255.255.255.248 (I made these up). So expect different subnet mask formats, different network classes, with IPs all across the board (are they valid?) all in the same question. Don't count too much on seeing something like 192.168.1.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
Subnetting is my strong point, but some questions had me double-checking my answer.
And about the sims: I just followed the instructions and everything went well.
