| Well the 607 took me down today..
I got a 796.
I used TestOut and the Cisco Press book. I must say the test gave me really crappy questions. For example, I had the identify the different sections of frames. I have to say there was WAY more subnetting than I expected. Out of 60 questions I bet at least 15 were subnettings. I also had quite a few wuestions on frame relay. Only 2 sims.. One was troubleshootinf rip and the other was configuring interfaces. Be V E R Y careful with the sims. They are very confusing and try to through you off. I had 3 or 4 ACL questions as well.
I plan on trying again in a week!

| In what areas did you score the lowest? Work on those areas and you should pass next time. You're not far from a passing mark. Good luck.
By the way, did you have any IPX questions?
| justindu 2003-09-13, 2:53 pm |
| No IPX.. My scores were:
Bridging and Switching - 50%
OSI - 100%
Routed Protocols - 83%
Routing Protocols - 78%
WAN Services - 33%
Network Management - 67%
LAN Technologies - 83%
Cisco and Networking Basics - 50%
I am pretty discouraged.. I was feeling really confident. Seems like I did good on the hard stuff, and bad on the basics..
Which area does all the subnetting fall? WAN services? I handled the basic how many hosts\subnets questions. But I struggle with the hard ones.
Oh well. I will try again next week! I have been lucky on certs thus far.. I passed A+, Net+, MCP and MCSA all the first time.

| Subnetting falls under 'Routed Protocols', since IP addresses are used for addressing/subnetting and IP is a Layer 3 routed protocol. Subnetting doesn't necessarily imply a WAN since you can subnet a LAN.
WAN services are anything such as point-to-point serial links (leased lines), Frame Relay or ISDN.

| don't be discourage try again..
me failed twice..
taking it again after my sch term exam...
|
| sorry to hear about your exam. but don't lose your heart. we all fail don't we? someone in this forum uses this as his sign
"Life is the only test that counts".
so buckle up, polish your armours and keep on trying. i'm sure you'll do good. one more thing, Cisco changes their pattern so you have to be strong in every part not just subnetting. yes subnetting comes under the Routed protocols.
Wendell's book is an excellent one but try the Todd's book too. i asked Cisco guys about IPX. they told me due to their policy they won't disclose if IPX is still in the CCNA.
well good luck again. | |

| hi justindu..if you think ur dissappointed...then my score i took on 5th sept 2003 was 847!!!...<--nice number eh..just 2 marks short of passing.
Anyway..dun be discouraged..just try harder..concerntrate on your weak points..and try again.
As for me....Im slogging back to the books...again...and concerntrating on my weak points...using wendell odom's ccna exam cert. #640-607 which is good for me
anyway dun give up...with hardwork,perseverence..we will prevail...oh and minus brain dumps.....!!!
good luck!~ | |

| I failed it the first time as well, and I wanted to hit stuff with my car. I studied using Transcenders mostly, and they did not serve me well. The Sybex guide by Todd Lammle is very good and very helpful....It's pretty much the reason I passed with flying colors the second time. The admin at my testing center said that almost everyone that he'd seen had failed the first one out. | |

| Hey don't feel bad, as you can see a lot of people here don't make it the first time. I know one guy at work that is an EE and he failed the CCNA the first time. Keep trying...Never quit! |
