| I wasn't aware that CDP stood for Cisco Delivery Protocol? I downloaded the exam notes from here and came across this in the first couple pages. I know these are here to help, but it also proves you need to know what you are reading and be able to rely on it. The more sources you have the better chance you have of cross referencing material. I have came across several questions on practice test that will give an acronym and then ask for the definition.

| I believe CDP is Cisco Discovery Protocol, but I suck at acronyms and I am saying this off the top of my head at 0500 while sipping my first cup of coffee, so who knows what I'll think in an hour or two

| Agreed, Cisco Dscovery Protocol - always confirm this sort of thing on CCO.
A little OT - even though it's proprietry to Cisco other manufacturers can use it - last week I was on a customers site and saw some Mitel VoIP handsets attached to the switch. | |

| The protocol is designed to detect other cisco routers. IE Discovery over Delivery.
I think CDP was added in what 12 or 11+ IOS's?

| As a side note CDP can do some other cool stuff too, like detect duplex and Vlan mistmatches.
