IPX routing question

| It is my understanding with IPX that you must have the same IPX numbers between two interfaces for them to route IPX traffic, is this correct?
The only reason I'm asking is I think I found a simple typo in Todd Lammle's book and wanted to reaffirm what I know should be correct.

| I believe you're right. I'll have to do some research. Other than knowing it professionally, don't worry about IPX on the CCNA test. Cisco stopped using those questions. Spend time on WAN like ISDN and frame relay. Know your subnetting inside and out. Make a subnet chart while doing the survey. That will save you a lot of time! Good luck! | |

| Yes, you have to have the same IPX network numbers on two interfaces in order to route traffic directly between them. It's the IPX equivalent of being on the same IP subnet.
Note that this is not to be confused with the IPX address of the interface itself, which is basically just its MAC address and is therefore not configurable.
Hope this helps... |
