Why is my network slow ?

| I Have 2 routers, connected through the setial cable to connect 2 networks together. These routers arte connected to the other networks via the 10M ethernet connections.
Ive only done the basic setup to allow communications through the routers. Now for some reason, it takes me like 7 minutes to copy over a 1 Mb file from one network, through the routers, to the other network...
is there a reason why its so slow? I know these routers are old (its for a home lab) but even at 10M it shouldnt take that long to xfer a 1 Mb file....
Any ideas?
P.S. My 2 networks are both 10/100 btw, the router is slowing it down a lot I know... | |

| Have u checked the bandwidth and clock rate of the serial interfaces of both routers. Those may sometimes be the cause of the slow transfer rate...

| Well I checked the serial interface on Router 1, it was set to 5600, I set it too 250000 and it seems to be a little faster, THe second router does not have a clock rate set, I believe it gets the clock rate from teh DCE-DTE cables, as for the bandwidth, I am unsure how to check that. | |
