| To answer your first question: If you have a business acount, usually you can have your ISP do the DNS registration for you. To use your example, you would call your ISP and tell them you need to add a www record for abc.com and give them the IP address you are planning to use. They will add it to their DNS server, and it will take 1-2 days to full propogate throughout the Internet (not really, but that's what they usually say).
On your second question, it depends. Is the new location within the same building? Are you moving your Internet connection (i.e. T1 line) with you? We moved our datacenter down two floors earlier this year, and we just had to move the line that extended our T1 from the phone room, and then we were back up and running with no problems. As long as you keep the same ISP (who actually "owns" those IP addresses) you should be able to keep the same IP addresses, in which case the answer is yes, you do just plug in and go. |
