| I'm happy to say that after joining this board 3 years ago. I did it. I passed the CCNA this morning with a 911, 1st attempt.
I don't know why I put it off for so long, but not having a job gives you a lot of free time. I do know that I was getting poor getting all the latest editions of Sybex. I think I own three. And with the new test coming up, I did't want to shell out more money.
This board has been a great resource.
Thanks everyone.
I used Sybex, and Boson. I bought the Boson tests to get a feel for how the router sims were, and I think the Boson tests oversimplified the sims. I ended up with 3 sims, none of them had me do password changes, or hostname changes like Boson.
On one sim I nearly got up and walked out of the test because of my frustration. I messed up on it, and had to re-config. But the damn thing would not let me make any changes.
I can't get into more details than that, But I wasted 20 minutes trying to get it to work. I ended up cutting my losses and trucked on. I was pretty scared cause I wasted so much time on it.
Being laid off I have been playing a lot of golf, and from golf I learned that if you triple bogey on a hole you can still end up with a good game. Finish strong.
Subnetting was a huge part of my test. It seemed like on all of my questions, they worked some kind of subnet question in there.
Good luck. | |

After this slump, everyone in the bay area will have a v.nice handicap.
I took off early today and went to the range at SJ Muni and gee... it was about 70% full.

| I hear that. I'm finally getting my wicked slice under control. I used to live off that SJ Muni course. After the downturn, I had to move cause $1600 for a 700 sq ft 1 bedroom, was killing me.
I picked up the all you can golf mon-fri. at Sunnyvale, Sunken gardens for 65 bones. As cheap as golf gets.
