| I've decided to buy a home lab. I want a couple of routers and a switch. Any suggestions on what to buy? My pockets ain't real deep, so I can't afford much. I would like to be able to use what I buy later on down the road for the ccnp. I saw a 2501 on ebay for $125, but it didn't get any bids so I didn't figure it was worth it. | |

| I wrote something, you can see it on my site about getting cisco stuff. The thing to do is READ what they say about it. Check if they do DOA, check ios ver., etc. If no one bids on something, from my experience, there is generally a reason.
btw, two 2501 switches are best, really a cat switch is optional.

| why dont you just use those free online telnet remote labs? i know this one where the guy has 5 routers and allows priviledged access too.. | |

| Because you can't do password recovery on them. I have access to an online lab, but they only 5 people on the rack at a time. It is usually really late at night before I can get on. Also, you really aren't suppose to make drastic changes to the config on them. There are also several commands that don't work on them. | |

Will there be many questions on the cert that about a switch? Some of the posts I've been reading from guys that have taken are saying there is. Even if the questions are just theory, I retain alot more when I see it actually working.

| there were not many, not on command line part of it. If you can afford it, I suggest you look into getting one(Make sure it has CLI or else you just wasted some money) It can be used for ccnp | |
