which networking device requires you to set the IP address on a per-device and not per-interface basis?

A. hub
B. switch
C. router
D. firewall
E. proxy

the boson answer is hub ans switch. what do you think?

You mean the Boson answer is hub, but you think it is a switch? IF the hub is managed, meaning it'll send alarms and alerts to a management station -OR- you can telnet to it to get statistics, then you need an IP address for the management only - but the individual ports are not addressable.

All the other devices in the list can be addressed per-interface.
