Now that im 6/7 of the way done with mcse ive started studying for the ccna. I bought a few routers (2500's) on ebay and received them and think my home setup is all pretty usefull and working, except! The serial link between the 2 2500's seems ungodly slow (as in 3 minutes+ for a 5 meg file). Replication and everything works, but its VERY annoying. Ive changed the MTu and Bandwidth in an effort to speed it up, nothing. No interfaces are logging errors that I see, just going super slow. I think the routers are healthy but who knows. Routing between the same vlan on the switch or different subnets on same routers FLY, but between the routers its piggish. Tried all my servers between the 2, same thing. Even 2 workstations! And both sets of serial ports. I only have the one dce/dte cable however. One router is running ios 12.0 and the other ios 11.0 (8/16 of ram however), i was trying to upgrade the one to 12.0 (16/16 ram)but apparently im not important enough in cisco's world to get at the upgrade on their website :|. Could this be the problem? (the versions?). Can anyone think of anything else? If someone thinks they can help id be happy to send them the configs to check out. thanks,
jw

Don't mess with your MTU and the bandwidth command is not relevant. You want to be looking at the clockrate command on the serial interface using the DCE side of your DTE/DCE cable.
