| Just wanted to add my personal experience like the countless others. I have been lurking in the dark around these parts for the past few months and yes, I'm quite new to the board. Very insightful board I might add, consisting of very well informed community members. Kudos!!
Studied for this exam off and on for approximately 3mnths. Only applied myself the last 2 weeks prior to the exam. Anyhow, I narrowly missed by 2 points on my first try(847/1000). Suffice to say, I can't even begin to find the right words to describe my reaction after seeing the score sheet.
Didn't feel it was healthy to dwell on the situation so I QUICKLY re-grouped myself, knowing that I had missed by the slightest of margins on my initial try, and retook the exam 5 days later.
The final result = 898/1000.
This board along with some others have been very instrumental in this achievement and I would like to extend my gratitude.
Study material = Todd Lammle Sybex 640-607, Richmond exams, Odom Cisco Press 640-607(Very brief review)and Sybex Exam notes and can't forget Routersim.
Cisco\engineer experience = None. Currently working as Technical Support Professional for a very prominent and stable fortune500 ISP/Phone/Video provider (You can take a stab in the dark here ). Looking to head down Engineer path within the organization or elsewhere. BTW, just received a call from a MSSP(Managed Security Service Provider)regarding an interview for a Level 1 Security Engineer position, so we'll see how things go. Fingers X'd although I wouldn't mind a relative position where I'm at due to stability concerns.
For CCNP, I will be taking a University lab course. No self-study only approach this time around. Also interested in the Security realm and will be looking into CCSP and CISSP in the near future. Also working on Unix/Linux.
If I can be of assistance in any capacity, don't hesitate to contact me.

| Congratulations on your pass, not everyone passes the first time so this makes passing on the re-test feel even better.
Good luck with the CCNP.

| Thanks Sexy Lexy,
This board has been an excellent resource thanks to you and some other members. I can't say this enough!!
The CCNP will be an interesting "journey" as I foresee it, but a welcome one at that. We get to delve deeper into the various facets of this technology and this entices me. Good to know that we can now focus on one major area at a time and gain a much deeper and refined understanding of that section as opposed to the all inclusive CCNA, but I guess that was Cisco's main objective in constructing the CCNA, to lay the foundation for further developement in the various disciplines.
1000 thanks again to all!! | |

| Congratulations!
Isn't it a great feeling when you think you've blown it and you're mentally preparing to reschedule, only to see that fabulous word appear on the Score Sheet?!?!
On the CCNP and CCDP forums, over the past month or two there have been several posts worth digging for related to the new Professional exam structures. CCDP was overhauled, plus CCNP and CCSP are getting updated exams in June.

| Imran4sin and anchor40 thanks to both of you. Yes, I've already been doing some "digging" at the CCNP/DP forums, even prior to sitting the CCNA. Your information has been very insightful and helpful and I definately plan on putting it to good use.

| Even though I already gave you congrats
I will say it again. Congrats on the pass!
I missed my first time as you know already, but don't have the money to take it again yet. I haven't looked at anything related to CCNA since, but that day you brought in your passing score to work and showed me. I have been impassioned with a new desire to get this thing done.

| Keep that fire burning my man . You've definately got what it takes from what I know of you personally, and as evidenced by your initial score report. Without a doubt, we've made some great strides dating back to when we first decided to embark on this mission for "self improvement" or "self advancement" as some may call it. We need to keep pushing forward and continue to show resolve, the same resolve that got us here in the first place.
