A+ newbie considering CCNA?
|

| I have my A+ and am looking to head down a certain certification path. Someone had said I should consider CCNA.
I see that's it's one exam, do I have to attend school, or can I go the self-study route?
What type of opportunities are available? What is the long-term outlook for the technology?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

| Hi Jo987xx
There are three paths for you to consider.
1) Self-teach, read the books and book yourself in for an exam
2) Boot-camp, Go to one of these for two weeks hard work and take the exam straight after. (High failure rate)
3) college course (Which I am doing), I feel this is more benificial, you will have access to all the hardware to pracise on.
Hope this helps

| Joe -
Here's my 2cents. CCNA is awesome. It opens the doors to a much larger world. I orginally did it because one of my co-workers was given a promotion because of his Cisco/IP knowledge a few years back. My first cert was my A+ as well, I then did some MS WinNT stuff and then straight to Cisco. It, along with my other Cisco stuff has helped me extremely professionally.
Whether or not it is for you or not depends on what you like/enjoy doing. There's a lot to learn and what you learn you can apply at most companies with a Cisco WAN/LAN backbone.
Congrats on your A+ and continuing your pursuit of self-improvement.
Peace,

| You might want to think about NET+ first,
study it, you dont need to take it. As I found a big learning 'curve' between A+ and CCNA. Net+ kind of bridges the gap.
BTW I passed self study. |
