| OK I have ran into a little problem. I have 6 months until I seperate from the Navy, and hopefully will land some type of job in Networking and eventually programming(when the degree is finished). My problem is should I try to squeeze in CCNA before MCSE or just forget about CCNA. Please Help.
Also, if anybody would like to help me with information technology resume that would be good. | |

| Kind of depends on what direction you want to go. It sounds like you are going MCSE regardless of the CCNA. So if your main focus is going to be MCSE, and maybe MCSD (developer), then the CCNA will only be a "side" cert for you anyway. But don't get me wrong, being a CCNA will definitely benefit you, but it doesn't represent in-depth knowledge of Cisco. However, depending on your current level of network experience, it will take you some time to prepare for the exam - probably more time than Win2K Pro or XP Pro (I recommend choosing one of these for your first exam on the way to MCSE). As soon as you pass that exam, you'll be an MCP. Then preparing for Server (70-215) will be much easier since much of it is overlapped in 70-210 (Win2K Pro).
When you say "networking", if you mean routing, switching, and the like, then your certification path should be Cisco all the way. But if you mean Windows networking (servers, Active Directory, etc), then moving into application development, MCSE is the right path. |
