| I made a 797/1000. Need 849/1000. I idin't think it was to bad since I've only completed 2.5 semesters of the Netacad. One thing I learned is that the Academy curriculum is not enough to pass this exam. I went straight from the testing center to Waldenbooks and picked up Sybex's study guide. I learned more from reading it last night than I have in 5 months. Anyway, thanks to those of you that helped out. I'm going back in two weeks, and this time, I WILL pass this exam. | |

| Sorry to hear of your non-pass. But you'll get there with persistence.
I've read (and studied) the entire Sybex guide and am in the final stages of doing lab work and self testing. I should be ready in less thant two weeks. The most amazing thing about the Sybex study guide is you actually learn to subnet in your head - no joke! It works! I've been doing it since I read that chapter, although I did go back and re-read the chapter to make it solid.
Good luck on your next attempt.

| It's good that you are keeping your head up! Persistance pays off. By they way, how many questions were there? | |

| I took the exam a few days ago and failed with a 775. My main study materials were online Transcenders and the Exam Cram study guide. Both of these were very disappointing in the fact they did very little to help prepare me for this exam. I didn't find the exam to be a difficult one, only the fact that I came unprepared for all the in-depth WAN technology related questions. I had about 5 subnetting questions (very easy), 2 sims (also easy), 1 or 2 questions on IPX, a few on ISDN, and about 10 on the OSI model (fairly easy as well). The rest were basic troubleshooting and WAN technology. I have a 1602 router at home I use just for practicing the command syntax and setting up ACL's. I would like to hear from people who have recently passed this exam and what study materials they found to be helpful (no brain dumps please!). | |

| I have used the Boson Test and they seem good
I would like to see how good the Routersim 3.0 is also
I should be taking the test before the 24th of this month and hope to pass

| Do not worry about not passing the exam, now you know what to expect and what your weak areas regarding the CCNA.
Everyone and I mean everyone fails an exam; you have got the right attitude as you do not see this as a set back but as an experience.
Simply carry on, the pass this time will be twice as satisfying and as rewarding; trust me as we have all been there before.

| I re-cert'd my CCNA in January - it was a lot more challenging than version 1, that's for sure!
Boson is good, Self Test Software is good, also CCNA for Dummies is good (both book and CD). You can go to http://safari.informit.com/ for a virtual library of IT Certification books
Cisco re-vamps their exams to keep the value in the certifications, which gives us value when we get them. Unfortunately, the best preparation is real-world exposure to understand when you use the commands.
My CCNA sim was troubleshooting-based. Know what a good config looks like, so you can identify what's missing.
Hope this helps!

| Sybex is the way to go along w/some hands on. Transcenders a good plus also. Ready Sybex twice and learn to subnet in your head from the book. Not hard at all. Take Transcenders till you pass. Use Sybex Gold simulators. You'll pass next time guarantee! | |

| You did well after only Sem 2. Cisco Academy is not enough, I used Sybex, Cisco Acad is too much theory to take in, I am glad my company paid for it, some guys on the course paid themselves and they were seriously pissed off and rightly so.... |
