| I want to make sure..... I have heard that the command to make the router erase the current version of the configuration has changed from write erase to something else?
is this true? | |

| erase nvram.
Are you asking to erase the ios completely? | |

| The flash memory holds the IOS the VRAM stores the startup-config file
I'm running 12.2 on a 2504 and the write erase works to remove the startup-config file, you could type erase startup-config which does exactly the same thing.

| Hi all,
The latest versions of IOS include new commands like
erase nvram
erase startup-config
But the older version of these commands is write erase. This command will work with the newer versions of IOS too.
