Correct me if I'm wrong here, I believe that the 2950 is the successor to the 2900.

Have you confifured the switch with an IP address? If so then all you need to type it
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and the browser will run the configuration page.

Certain versions of IE will not have the Java support so the page may appear blank, click on:

http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/

And download and install the 1.4.1 plug in and everything should be fine.

to use the web based admin on at least a 2912, I set the ip of the switch, or an interface(I dont remember) with ip address command just like in the router. I did that right after going into configuration mode or after doing int e0/0 or whatever i-face I put it on. Then you should need to enable the service witha http command from configuration mode

I don't believe the 2950 series of switches has layer 3 capabilities. Therefore, you won't be able to assign an IP address to the ports; just to the switch itself. If you want to add layer 3 functionality, I think you're going to have to either add a layer 3 switch (i.e. the 3550 with the EMI) or a router on a stick type configuration.

Dude your right the 2950 is not a layer 3 switch. They are gonna need a 3550 for sure. Doing this a work right now.
