Basic CCNA Questions (2)

| Hi! I have a few questions about the CCNA exam.
First: Is the current test the most "current" or are they about to update it?
Second: What's considered the best way to prepare for this? For example, what's considered to be the most helpful book (ex., Sybex? or Cisco Press?)? I have an older CCNA book and sym router (Sybex package) but the book is out of date. Is there an FAQ or something which states the best way to prepare for this?
I'm getting back into the certification game so forgive me if these questions seem lame. It's been a while. :-) | |

| Cisco has just recently replaced the 640-607 CCNA exam with the 640-801 CCNA exam, so things should be stable for awhile. I personally think the books by Cisco Press are superior to the Sybex material. Cisco Press has recently released a two book set for the new CCNA exam; CCNA Certification Library (CCNA Self-Study, exam #640-801), ISBN # 1587200953. It comes with some simulation software. For the best price you might want to check bookpool.com.
Cisco now offers two paths to achieve your CCNA:
- the single 640-801 exam.
- the exam broken down into two parts, 640- 811 and 641-821 (still in beta).

| that's true, the 640-607 sybex book left a whole lot of info that the cisco press had. the frame relay section in the sybex book is a damn shame compared to the cisco press one. | |

| Does the Cisco Press book for the latest CCNA test come in just one book instead of the 2 book set? Any feedback on the Sybex book for the latest test (improvement over the last edition)? Thanks! | |

| The latest Cisco Press CCNA study material is only available as a two book set that corresponds to the 640-811 & 640-821 exams.
