OK I just spent the last 8 hours reading back 6 months on the CCNA forum and have a few questions that didn't get answered.

First I ordered this book from Amazon it's the Sybex CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide, Deluxe Edition it comes with the CCNA Virtual Lab, Gold Edition on CD.

Is this the only book I need to pass the CCNA?

If not what do you suggest?

Will this book take me from basic networking info to a CCNA?

If I have $400 laying around which Cisco devices should I buy on eBay to help with the learning proccess?

Last, I noticed that alot of the question on the forums had to do with subnetting. Will the book teach me everything I need to know or do I need more?

Thanks in advance for the answers and comments. I set a goal to pass the CCNA before the end of Febuary, and I'm reading everything I can before I start. So for all you out there that has passed please share suggestions guiding me down the right path.

PS Please don't suggest and brain dump stuff I want to pass this and use it at my job, not pass by cheating just the have the cert and not know what I'm doing. There are a few people at my employment that cheated like that and there morons.

Thanks - Just Evolved

The book will be fine, with a little help from a google search here and there.

You don't need any gear to pass the CCNA.
If you have a sim that will be more than enough.

Save your $400 for some crack and a hooker once you pass!

One more thing, buying the Boson Tests is a definite must.

He may be right; I don't know, but with the name "ciscosucks" and "CCNP+" certification, he is not too credible in my opinion.

I assume CCNP+ was as in CCNP + specialization (CQS).

I did the CCNA with just a book, a sim and the Boson exams. I had no idea what a router even looked like at the time.

ok JustEvolved just got lost without any trace. if u can still hear me then let me tell u that for CCNA that Sybex book is enough but i'd have suggested the Wendell Odom book if u hadn't commited to this one. if u have the cash then do go and buy urself that book. with these two and the simulator u don't need anything else to get passed. u don't have to buy a router but if u have access to 2500 or 2600 series then it'll be nice. wish u all the best. oh forgot about the subnetting part. both of these books will u teach u all about subnetting as it is very important. u can also check this site...
