Hi all,

Wonder if Novell IPX and Catalyst 1900 Switch is still in the new 640-801 syllabus.
Both are my weak areas as I dont have any hands-on with it.

Thanks.

Novel IPX is not there in CCNA 801.

Cisco asks some questions on switches. The questions wud be either general to all switches or it will be on 2950 switch as given in Cisco Press book. But its always good to know about Cat 1900 switch also.

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi,

Thanks for the info that IPX is no longer in the 801. This surely will save me a lot for the exam.

It is a surprise for me that cat 2950 is also in the exam. I thought the only different on the 801 is the inclusion of OSPF.

I am now studying based on the 607 syllabus from Sybex. Original plan is to finish the 607 and study some materials on OSPF and then go for the exam.

Will this work to score in CCNA 801? Should I spend some money buying one or two books for the new syllabus? What is the recommended book?

Thanks.

The difference is

VLSM
OSPF and EIGRP
and Switch and VLAN configuration. The switch cud be 1900 and 2950.Its better u know basics of both.

Note : No zero subnetting considered for subnetting.Yeah its worth spending some money on Cisco Press ICND- 640-801 book.

Good luck
