i recieved some requests about CCNA exam thats why i'm writing it. first of all i passed the 640-607 exam so don't ask me about the 640-801 exam. but i'm sure if you study hard and practise hard that won't be a problem.

1. the most important thing is subnetting. know it well and you have to subnet in your mind. no pen no paper...period.

2. be sure to know all the IOS commands in the CCNA curriculam. also you have to know from which promts they are to be given. Cisco has questions to beat smart alecs who doesn't read the question properly.

3. there should be no doubt regarding OSI layer and Access-lists.

5. study everyday and practise everyday.

6. know the differences between routers and switches, switches and bridges, routed and routing protocols, etc.

7. cabling methods must be mastered, what type of cables to use when.

8. surf the net, there are great sites with loads of information...but beware not all of them are correct.

i found these to be wonderful.

www.celticrover.com
www.routergod.com
www.routerzone.com

of course there is no match for these sites.

www.cisco.com
www.ietf.org
www.iana.org

9. i read the Todd Lammle book and its wonderful. but the Wendell Odom book is more informative. the best option is to study the Todd book first and then the second one. though any of the book is enough to prepare you. the first one is lucid and easy to understand. second one is kinda dry but definately a great book.

10. if you have a router then you are very very lucky. but if you don't then don't worry www.routersim.com provides a very good simulator. i don't like the Boson router simulator.

11. TESTKING!!!!!!!!!!!

12. last but not the least remeber to relax and have a good night sleep before taking the exam and don't lose your control. TRUST ME THERE IS PLENTY OF TIME so don't rush and spoil.

well these are all i could think of now. contact me if you have querries. i wish all of you good luck for the exam.

I agree with all your recommendations except for point 11. testking are a braindump site and I cannot agree with the use of braindumps. There are other sites offering questions which are not of this nature: boson and transcender as examples.

dear Nethead,

i agree with you. braindumps are not good. but in testking i found lots of information which were not there in books. this is the only q&a paper i had. i haven't checked Boson or Trancender so i can't vouch for them. if someone thinks testking is ALL about braindumps then please don't spoil yourself. thanks for pointing it out. in future i'll refrain myself from misleading the youngs.
