once upon a time I was a Network Engineer for a ISP.. (BroadbandNOW!)

got laid off.. and had to start over.. now that I can, I want to try and get my CCNA (still heh). I found one place that will do CCNA and CCDA for 4K as a 7 day "camp" are these worth it? Can you get all you need to know in 7 days? I do plan on picking up a book regardless until I can afford to take the camp or whichever way I do it..

and guidance would be helpful!.. Thanks!

I don't like boot camps that teach the test.
When I interview I ask how the tech prepared for their cert and what they are doing to continue to advance their knowledge. These questions come late in the interview and it seldom fails that those who attended a boot camp do miserably with the technical questions. Ya they have the certification, but we don't hire them as we prefer some knowledge and a self initiated drive to learn more.

cool.. that is what I thought it would be like... I am hoping with my prev. experiance I would be able to get past that though... I know the stuff.. I just don't have the paper saying I do... sometimes I wonder if I am starting off on a "too hard" of a cert..

If you or whoever does not mind... could you look over my previous experiance and see what I would be best suited for?

Start studying and get that piece of paper becuase it does help you get an interview.

My advice has always been take any job you can with a large company (usually means the Help Desk) and then work hard to get the attention of others. Show that you have the incentive to learn and have the drive to advance. Managers prefer to hire someone they know, have seen in action or come highly recommended from someone they trust, so it is far easier to get this kind of attention from the inside rather than the outside of a company.

Good luck to you,

Don't use these bootcamps there very stupid and you never learn.

I know someone who got there CISSP, MCSE, CCNA/DA, and couldn't remember any of it 3 months later.

He actually told me they used braind dumps in the class from the instructor..

Learn it legit.

ALso about that guy saying get into a big company and start out at helpdesk. YOu dont have to start up low end if you prepare. IE get a degree and certifications and you will start middle/high end.

I am going for my masters degree. I will be starting at the network engineer/senior network engineer position and I am only 22 years old.
