| hello guys,
i no longer new in taking ccna, this is my second time to take the exam, i just want to know how prepared i am for taking the exam... i'd read the study guide of sybex, again and again, not just twice. i also answer the questions included in it, and some daily question sent via email, i got some of it correctly but for those i was not able to answer, i make sure i re-read the topic related to it. about the sim, i practice just on e-sim, and the one included in sybex, and just ones, i was able to configure a cisco router,i repeat i configure not troubleshoot, just like that, is it enough? i'm worried bec the last time i took, i felt that i'm so much prepared for taking, but still i failed... i really want to become a certified one!!! please help me!
thanks! | |

| U dont have to be so tensed...
make sure u be perfect with subnetting, basics of switch and Vlan configuration.there is no questions on IPX.Be prepared with access-list also.and ofcourse the Wan.they are also asking questions of cables, so be prepared with that also.I'vent taken CCNA 640-607.I was well prepared, but on the day of exam i found i'vent done my registration properly and i cudnt give 607.But i'm giving 801 in this month, probably on 24th.
yeah there are 25 subnetting question in Cisco press book in apendix. make sure u check that out!!!
good luck!lemme know how u do... | |

| I too failed on my first try for my 640-607 and my first try score didn't help much except giving me internal bleeding(score=847,passing=849
)
I felt i was well prepared and al those shit..until I was brought down to earth by the failure.I've learned Sybex books(lammle)and study subnetting until i even dream of subnetting in my sleep. But I guess it was not enough.
So I bought myself CiscoPress book by Wendell Odom and learn/study the material again. And to my surpirse, there is still a lot of loopholes in my understanding of CCNA exam objectives and this book point that out like a sore thumb.
After using this(wendell odom) book (and enough courage),I took the exams on my second try.And I passed!!.
So? Some of u might ask...what im trying to point out is that, try to use more that a single study material like using only sybex or only etc etc.Though SYBEx is a good book it does not cover in detailed like ciscopress book did.
You can try buying online if ou cannot get it in local bookstore.

| Just like most of the other tips CCNA = can you subnet quickly. Don't worry it took me 4 times before I passed (but my scores went up each time) I passed with 899 points. The sims where v easy just do a show run and make sure the configs are o.k.
I found buying the exam cram books handy I took them everywhere I went and constantly went over things in my head if i was unsure of something I could look it up (yes I was a social outcast for a year, the boring one in the corner with his nose in a book). My tips on subnetting learn what the network jumps are i.e 128 - hops of 128, 192 jumps of 64, 224- 32, 240- 16 etc. Before you start the exam, on your note pad write out your OSI layer, where bits frames packets segments happen on each layer and if like me you are slow on subnetting work out your hops of 8, 16, 32 and 64's write down each network ID 1st address last address and brocast, as that is what I was asked on mostly,
For knowing you are prepare make sure you are hitting 90 - 95% on test exams.
I am sure you will do fine on the next one, think positive and you'll do it

| hi there,
i just used cisco pressed ICND book and testking stuff to get the CCNA3
subnetting is important. and U should figure it out quickly in some way. example:
/27 (32-27=5bit host,
means (2^2*2^3)=4*18=32,
256-32=224, 255.255.255.224
subnet seq: 0,32,64,96,128,160,192,ets
as to lab sim, U'd better putting down the info (ip add, pass word, routing protocol etc). then "show run" to check if ip config or routing protocol(rip/igrp)config is correct on each router/interface. after U typed in the config, pls ping interfaces on remote rouetrs and "show run" to check connectivity. don't forget "copy run start" before you take next question. |
