| ive been studying for my ccna for the last couple months and am close to taking the test. im a bit confused about a couple things tho. i know that cisco are supposed to drop the 640-607 test, but im not sure when. ive been studying out of ccna study guide (sybex) 640-607 and dont want to have to buy new books because they switched the exams. did the new exams go into effect yet, or do i have some time? also, i been hearing people talking about test king, and im kinda confused on what it is after browsing the forum. is test king a brain dump, or is just a company selling practice questions. i dloaded one from a website, and a lot of the questions i knew from studying my sybex book. if its a brain dumb, i dont want nothing to do with it. i want to be able to say i earned my certs, rather than basically cheating to get em. lastly, if the 640-607 test is dead, do i really need to buy new material, or will the 640-607 materail i learned from be enough to pass the test?
thanks in advance

When will the CCNA 640-607 exam retire?

Although September 30, 2003 is the last day to register for the CCNA 640-607 exam, the actual exam appointment can be up to 6 weeks after that date. Please note that after September 30, 2003, it will no longer be possible reschedule the exam or register for an exam re-take.
Differences between the CCNA 640-801 Exam and the CCNA 640-607 Exam
Question
What is the difference between the CCNA 640-801 exam and the CCNA 640-607 exam?
Answer
The revised CCNA 640-801 exam will replace the existing CCNA 640-607 exam. The last day to register for the CCNA 640-607 exam is September 30, 2003. Candidates may schedule the exam up to 6 weeks out, but must register on or before September 30, 2003.
The revised CCNA 640-801 exam is designed to better assess the networking skills of entry-level candidates. The CCNA curriculum includes understanding the functions and operations of local area networks (LAN), Cisco IOS fundamentals, wide area networks (WAN), virtual private networks (VPN), and Storage Area.
The CCNA 640-801 exam tests more in-depth knowledge of the ICND 2.x course. The exam covers topics such as:
1. Switching configuration
2. OSPF and EIGRP routing protocols (Open Shortest Path First and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol)
3. VLSM (Variable Length Subnet Masking)
These topics were not covered in the 640-607 exam.
So now you have extra 3 topics that are not covered in #640-607.Try to find books or reading material which is Cisco's based that covers these topics and i think you'll do fine.
As for Testking...@$#%!^@#%@$5.......
Paisleyskye(a moderator here at Examnotes) wrote a very good article abt it.
