| I am taking my CCNA at BCIT, and my instructor was discussing media access methods. He explained CDMA/CD (Carrier detect multiple access, collision detection)
I always thought was carrier Sense. He insisted that it was carrier detect multiple access.
Am i wrong? is it really CDMA/CD? | |

| As far as I know..
CSMA/CD = Carrier Sence Multiple Access/ Collision Dectection.
If collision occurs, all transmitters stop for a random period of time and then retransmit.
There is CDMA: as in mobile telephony
CDMA= Code Devision Multiple Access
Thats the way of sharing the frequency.
like..
WDMA: Wave devision multiple access
and
DWDMA: DEnce Wave Devisio multiple Access where each fibre is further subdevided to hold 8 different channels.
So You might wanna reconfirm this with your instructor.
Unless Im wrong.. lol | |

| Thanks for your input. That's what I thought. When I raised my hand and asked him if he meant CSMA/CD, he said that i was wrong, that it was CDMA/CD. | |
