| Why give up? I see that you've got your N+, so that shows that you're someone who has prior knowledge on networking fundamentals. The only difference in the CCNA is that you have to know basic IOS commands, the process in setting up a router, and a Cisco switch. If you can do those, then you're there.
What have you done so far to prepare for the CCNA?

| What would you go to? To be honest. The MCSA path is not much easier.
Why don't you tell us where you are experiencing problems and you are doing in way of preparation. Maybe we can help.
CCNA is very technical but it is achievable. It could just be that you are not following a good preparation course of study.
As fsjcp2 already pointed out you are half way there already with Net+.
|
| Will you be continuing with your studies for CDBA(Certified Drunken Bumb Associate)though? | |

| Yep. I think the CDBA is the route to go, Chris.
Good luck with it.

| The key here is this: do you have live routers to play with so that you can put the concepts into expreience? If not, check out ebay for a cheap setup, or get free telnet access through www.r1r2.com | |

| Yeah I have routers to play with I have 5 router up and running right now. I was just feeling down on myself at the time. I don't know I already failed the test once(with 830) and that just really got me down. But I'm cool now only thing is that I have plans to join the service soon and don't know if I should get my CCNA now.(any ideas?) | |

| Chris,
I havent taken the CCNA test yet but I do expect to pass it when I have studied enough.
Get yourself a good book, virtual trainer for the router sims, and some practice test/questions. Go over this material until your head is about to pop, then your ready!
If you have already applied these methods, take a step back. ( the drunken thing might kill a few brain cells :-) ) One of the most important keys in passing a certification exam is fully understanding what the question is asking for. I build the foundation through study material, apply that foundation through hands-on practice, and then I soak in as much question & answers I can get my hands on.
All of the steps are neccesary ( at least for me ) to have a good chance at passing the exam the first time. Just the other night I passed the 70-216 and it was a son of a *$#@^. I passed it only because I applied these steps.
MCSA is not tough as long as you really understand ADS and networking ( with some DNS and DHCP thrown into the mix ). Good Luck!

| Not passing always hurts no matter how many times it has happened. From what I can tell you are almost there. You have more hands on that a lot of people sitting this exam. You are doing it the right way. If it helps I found CCNA to be one of the more challenging Cisco exam -- you need to know a little about a lot. As for your service considerations even if this does not have anything to do with your potential classification I would say do it as it is always great to finish what you've started! |
