ok i am currently going to community college for designing and installing networks as my curriculum. i've completed one semester of two year course and now starting my second semester. the question i have is, would it be just as easy to get a study guide for the CCNA and study it, rather than spending two years in community college learning, then paying for my CCNA exam? Ok and the Sybex ccna study guide by Todd Lammle was the recommened study guide. I have found a book called: CCNA Cisco certified Network Associate Study Guide Deluxe edition,by Todd Lammle, would this be the best study guide or am i off track?
i appreciate any help given...

I sure hope you are not going to school for two years just for the ccna. If not, then yes you should stay in. You said it right here, "for designing and installing networks as my curriculum.". Thats not what the ccna teaches. Stay in

Well ask yourself, is it worth it ? I'm on the same track I'm attending a Community college where I'm learning Win2k, Cisco and some other stuff, on top of that I have taken all my pre-req to attend a 4 year school where I'll get my Bachelors in Computer Science. As I believe a college education is just as important as being certified if not more. There is nothing to say that you can't go out of the realm of your classes and get your cert sooner. I know at my school if you certify before the class is over automatic pass.

Sell your body, that will help ot get money on your pocket.

Dont be a drop out, study another cert and go to college to learn about ccna.

Good luck

Don't go to school unless it is for engineering, or for someone else. Hands on and real world experience is what you need. I have a BS in telecommunications Mgt, which doesn't mean shiza, where I live, I am now working on a business degree because, well why not. I also have an A.S. in Electronics System technology. The only thing that has helped me land jobs is my experience, and now 2 job offers because my CCNA. It is up to you, going to school takes too freaking long. The sad part is I think I only went to college so my children can never say @$$#@$, and my parents as well.

Are you enrolled in the 4 semester "Cisco Networking Academy"?

If so I agree with you it seem ridiculous (and expensive) to spend 2 years covering CCNA material (plus a little more), especially because it doesn't give 2 years of college credits. But it is looked upon highly by employers, more than any 2 year IT degree would be, like a 2 year CIS.
