I been wanting to buy a euipment rack so I can hook all my stuff up that I have. Although its not really needed it would be nice to be able to organize it so that I dont have this mess of wires everywhere and I am sure by the end of the year I will have a alot more crap in my lab. But I don't want to buy anything cause I'm not really to sure what I need. I looked on ebay and saw some big racks for around $50 - $100 which is about what I'm looking to spend. But I dont get how I would get the my equipment on there. I mean some of routers have mounting ears(or whatever they are called) and I can see how they would screw in to the rack but is that all that is needed? It doesnt seem like the equipment would stay in place if thats all that was holding it there. Ehnn, and I tried looking through all my books and even online and havent really seen anything on it. Wish I took a better look at how they had it setup when I was doing my internship. But any help on this would help alot. Even if you think a rack would be a waste money for me. I still want it so I can get some experince setting one up. Plus it looks cool. Which is the important thing.

that's all you need, it will hold.

edit:

for example.

cisco 2500

just go to cisco and search for thing like

*2500 rack mount* replace it with whatever equipment, it would tell you the part number for their rackmount kit and stuff like this

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td...htm#xtocid38202

searched with *catalyst 5000 rack mount*

or jsut search for *rack mount kit* etc

get you to stuff like

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td...k6.htm#xtocid13

in yoru earlier post, you stated you got some for a dollar. mount it, jump on it to test its sturdiness...

if it drop to the floor... it is just 1 buck.

Oh I didn't get one yet. I'm waiting until I move because I do not feel like moving one of those. I just did a search for 19" equipment rack and I got lots of results.
