This question is not regarding CCNA. I would like to know if there is any full fledged software router (with feature equal to that of a CISCO router).can u name a few free source SW Routers ?. Any helpful links will also be gratefully thanked

try the linux forum. i understand you could set up a linux box as a router with low-spec hardware

Linux or any of the open source BSDs would be up to the task. Both support RIP, OSPF, ISIS and BGP. Firewall configuration is very flexible.
