| I am currently attending the Cisco Networking Academy (which I absolutely love), and was wondering if those of you who have attended this and taken the exam, how well you did? My sole purpose for attending the Academy is for the hands on, not necessarily taking the exam. But since I'm doing it I may as well go for it.
Thanks, | |

| I took the Cisco Academy Training at a community collage a year ago and score a 935 on my Cisco exam. I felt it was time well spent. | |
|
| I'm currently attending the Cisco Academy also. When the course ends on October, I'm planning to take the exam. My over all experience has been great! Since I bought two routers, I can practice in school and at home! | |

| I have never gone to the CA, but from what I have read, part of the people need review, others do fine on the test. What you need to look at is what you know. Look at the objectives(remember they dont list everything) but if you can look at those, and know all of it, you should do well | |

| I have seen good reports and bad on Cisco Academy.
Sounds like you have a good one.
Many in this area have unqualified instructors.
I have been told by students that they only get a couple hours hands on per semester and the rest of the time the "instructor" has them revue online training material and take practice tests so he doesn't have to do anything.
I'm sure this is not typical of most Cisco Academies.

| I have done the Cisco Academy in Edinburgh,Scotland. I found the hands on was quite good although we weren't able to do all the labs as the college had really outdated Cisco Hardware.
The lecturer also made us do the online reading quite a bit, but we did do a Project (TCS - Designing own Network in a School) and that really helped to bring everything into perspective. It was great practice for the real world. With the CA you get at least an equivalent of 1yrs experience.
All in All though it was a good course. I really learnt a great deal. As I had never done networking before. Doing the CA I was able to pass my Network+ quite easily and now I am going for my CCNA hopefully in the next 2 weeks.
Glad to hear someone else enjoyed it as well!
Good luck. | |

| i'm in the 3rd semester now,,, 2 of my buddies that just finished the 1st and 2nd class studied on their own alittle more and they both passed it 2 weeks ago,,, I think it all depends on the Teacher you have and how much extra time you put into it,,,
a couple semesters and alittle time on your own you should have no prob...
the only reason i'm staying in the 3rd and 4th is because of the hands on i'm getting with everything like VLan's, ACL's, and the great explanation of WAN protocols from my instructor...

| Took first semester about a year and ahalf ago in an absolutley horrid acadamey! The instructor was not even CCNA! How is he supposed to help?
Fast forward to now, finishing second semester in an outstadning program. A lot of my negatives form the program previous was instructor based. He was horrible. No skills, I think he was an accountant.
My current instructor was within an eyelash of getting CCIE in january and is sitting (well, traveling) for it again in October. He is fantastic. We have a full lab every week and a full lecture twice a week. Add to that home routers for study/practice, I would say that this is a fantastic program. But as I mentioned earlier, a lot of it is based on my instructor.

| I've heard good things for CNAP, especially for my local academy. The instructors are working as Network Admins for an ISP and are experienced. I plan to take 2 semesters in the beginning, but I'll do this when I complete with the MCSA! | |
