Here I am:

Currently enrolled in Cisco's Academy Program. Also, self studying using Lammle's 507 Book.

Trying to buy at least 2 (2501 and 1600 series) routers from E-Bay, and use them as a lab and to rebuild (for fun).

What else do I need to prep myself for this? Any help would be most appreciated.

Just a note to suggest that maybe you might consider a 1900 switch to complete your lab. That is, since money does not appear to be an object, and you just do not want to use the lab set up at the academy (presumably they have a lab). Otherwise try the simulators that are available from several places.

My (community college) Cisco Networking Academy had all routers and switches that are needed to complete all the lab requirements for the program (all four semesters).

Just an idea, but you may want to set a lab for yourself so that you can practice any time you are not in class.
